It's been two months since we published our article introducing meeting minutes tools. This time, it's the second installment of our introduction to AI-powered meeting minutes tools, following the previous one.

To be honest, I never expected that we'd switch tools so soon after publishing an article just a few months ago. AI tools are evolving remarkably fast!

We had expected to use Tactiq for a long time, and just as we had gotten a paid plan in place, Google Meet's automatic transcription feature added Japanese support. I tried it out, and the transcription accuracy exceeded my expectations. It also includes an automatic summary feature, which left me with the impression that it's quite capable.

Since our company mainly uses Google Workspace, it integrates seamlessly. If we're going to pay separately for Tactiq, wouldn't it make more sense to use this instead? That's the reasoning behind our decision to switch.

1. No complicated setup. Ready to use with one click
   When introducing a tool, it's common to enable its features in the settings beforehand and then hold the meeting. Perhaps you've had the experience of forgetting the settings, only to find the feature wasn't enabled when you tried to use it. With Google Meet's auto notes, there's no setup needed at all! Simply open Google Meet and use it right away whenever you need it.

2. Highly accurate transcription
   Because it transcribes conversations word for word, you can look back on how a conclusion was reached. When people create minutes for meetings lasting over an hour, accuracy tends to vary. With AI-powered auto notes, however, high accuracy is maintained throughout the entire recording.

3. Summaries Aligned with Timestamps
   The automatic note-taking feature transcribes conversations, but for it to be useful as meeting minutes, a summary function is essential. On the other hand, a summary that condenses a one-hour meeting into a few lines makes the content hard to understand. This automatic note-taking feature reads the transcribed content and generates appropriate summaries for each timestamp and section.

   It also understands technical terms that frequently come up during meetings, and supplements and summarizes them into natural sentences.

How to Use

1. Start your meeting in Google Meet.
2. Click the icon in the upper right corner of the screen, check "Also transcribe the meeting," and then click the "Start taking notes" button.

That's it! It's really easy to use, with no special settings required.

The screen while automatic note-taking is running looks almost the same as before it started, so there's no "The transcription makes the screen hard to read!" or "I can't focus on the meeting!" problem. When the meeting ends, you simply leave as usual. After that, Gemini will output the meeting minutes in Google Docs.
